2018 Mercedes-Benz E300 4MATIC Review

November 6th, 2018 by

The Mercedes-Benz E-Class has proven to be more than just a second fiddle to the S-Class. Even though it will always be behind the mighty S-Class in terms of overall features,  it has certainly earned respect when it comes to the mid-size executive saloons. This car has been neck-and-neck with the BMW 5-series, which explains how important this car has been for the brand.

The E300 4MATIC is the lowest range model that you can get for the E-Class. Despite being the basic model, this car is full of fantastic features and allows the buyers to add options to improve the overall car experience.

The Design

The current 2018 model of the E300 4MATIC features the same design as the W213 fifth-generation model, which was launched back in 2016. Compared to the previous generation models, the space between the wheelbases is increased by 2.6 inches. The front of the car features the new generation headlamps with daytime running LEDs. The standard grille is available with horizontal lines, which can be changed by selecting from the many options.

The interior of the E300 4MATIC is absolutely gorgeous and displays the classic design of Mercedes-Benz. There is a big 12.3-inch high-resolution screen situated on top of the center console. It can be used to control infotainment and climate control of the car.

The Performance

Since the E300 4MATIC is the basic model, it receives the smallest engine out of all the E-Class cars. It is powered by a 2.0 L inline-4 turbocharged engine that is capable of producing 241 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque. This is a decent amount of torque and power to move a midsize luxury sedan full of passengers.

It is also equipped with the brilliant 4MATIC® all-wheel-drive system by Mercedes-Benz. This system makes sure that all the four wheels get the necessary power output at all times. Combined with ESP®, the 4MATIC® lets the car drive smoothly on even the most slippery surfaces, such as snow.

The Safety

Mercedes-Benz makes sure that all its cars are loaded with safety features regardless of the model type. Therefore, despite being the base model, the E300 4MATIC is equipped with all the necessary safety features. These features include Brake Assist (BAS®), PRESAFE®, ATTENTION ASSIST® Active Lane Change Assist, and many other safety features.

The E300 4MATIC is also equipped with the intelligent ESP® (Electronic Stability Program) by Mercedes-Benz. This system keeps the car in control by sensing all kinds of wheel spin. It can apply individual brakes at different intensities to stop the car from spinning out of control.
