2018 Mercedes-Benz E400 Coupe: The E-Class Sports Car

August 20th, 2018 by

Mercedes-Benz E-Class has always played the second fiddle to the brand’s frontrunner, the S-Class. Although it might be the second best model of the brand, it certainly rules the segment of midsize luxury sedans.

The E-Class has been through lot of years of success, but it truly made a name for itself after the turn of the millennium. It received multiple variants and some serious treatment from AMG to write its name among the legends of the Mercedes-Benz brand.

This year, one variant to look for from the E-Class is the E400 Coupe. Just a few years ago Mercedes-Benz released the coupe versions for all of its top 3 luxury sedans, which includes the S-Class, E-Class, and the C-Class.

The new E-Class coupe looks slightly longer than the previous model, and, to be exact,  it really is 4.4 inches longer. It still bears the striking sporty look with its newly designed but a more aggressive grill and a big three-pointed star in the middle. The pillarless hardtop design by the Mercedes-Benz can still be found if you look at the side windows, which has now become a classic feature for all Mercedes-Benz coupe models.

Just like every other Mercedes-Benz, the new E400 coupe also features an all-LED exterior and interior. There is not a single light bulb inside or outside of the car. The E400 also features a panoramic roof that can be opened to let the fresh air inside.

Being an E-Class at heart, you definitely expect a better performance from its coupe version as well. But despite having two less doors, the coupe weighs almost the same as its sedan sibling. However, there is nothing to worry about because the E400 coupe features the same 3.0 L bi-turbo V6 as the sedan, which produces 329 HP, and will do 0-60 mph in just 5.5 seconds.

Along with this powerful engine, you also get a new sport brake system with painted calipers that has “Mercedes-Benz” inscribed on it. The E400 Coupe also features the brand new 9G-TRONIC 9-speed automatic transmission.

Comfort & Convenience

The E400 Coupe inherits all the luxury amenities from the sedan. This includes the electronically adjustable seats, dual-zone climate control, 64-color ambient lighting, a standard Burmester sound system, and many other luxury features.

The car can also be controlled through the Mercedes-Benz mBrace mobile app. Using the app, you can start the car, turn on/off the air conditioning, and many other controls.

The E400 Coupe is fully loaded with all the safety specs that you can find in the E-Class sedan. These features include active brake assist program, which is an intelligent system. This braking system works with onboard radar sensors that detect the possible collision ahead. The braking system slowly activates in order to prepare for the possible crash. This system is capable of pulling the car to a complete still.
