2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Is Here to Deliver
If there’s any automotive company on earth that can perfectly produce high-quality vehicles in every category, then it is surely Mercedes-Benz. Famously known for its high-end luxury sedans and SUVs, the German automakers produce pretty much all kinds of vehicles. Whether it is heavy-duty trucks, hatchbacks, or light delivery vans, Mercedes-Benz is known for building it to perfection.
Speaking of delivery vans, Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the new 2019 model of its Sprinter van, and it has been creating quite an impression on the auto reviewers everywhere.
Mercedes-Benz has also planned to fully produce the Sprinter in the newly built factory in Charleston, South Carolina (USA). This decision will certainly save the company a lot of money and may even bring the price down a bit.
When it comes to design, everything remains the same as the current year’s model. This makes sense because Mercedes-Benz introduced a fully redesigned third generation model just last year, which is currently in production.
You get the same sleek headlights at the front with different grill designs for the passenger variant and the freight variant. The tail lights also remain the same and the body doesn’t change at all either. The interior of the van offers the same level of comfort and convenience as this year’s model.
The New Infotainment System
Mercedes-Benz is known for its awesome infotainment system, especially the brand new one, which is called MBUX. MBUX stands for Mercedes-Benz User Experience, and it has been included in almost all the new models after 2014. The new 2019 Sprinter van is the latest vehicle to receive the MBUX infotainment system.
To access this system in the Sprinter, you need to operate the touch screen that is located on the center console. You have an option to either go for 7.0-inch or the 10.3-inch screen. The screen is quite responsive, and it has a user-friendly interface that is not that different from a smartphone.
Whether you are looking to buy the passenger variant or the freight variant, the power unit of the vehicle of this size needs to be impressive. The North American market is set to receive three different variants of the engine that are as follows:
- Inline-4 gasoline engine, which produces 188 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque
- Inline-4 turbo-diesel engine that produces 161 HP and 266 lb-ft of torque
- V6 turbo-diesel that produces 188 HP and 32 lb-ft of torque
The new 2019 Sprinter will also feature the brand 9G-TRONIC 9-Speed transmission by Mercedes-Benz. The North American market will only receive the rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive versions of the Sprinter van. Although Mercedes-Benz has introduced a cheaper front-wheel drive version as well, that will not be coming to North America.
The 2019 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter will be available in Canada at a starting price of CAD 43,400.
