2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class Seems Like a Good Refresh
Mercedes-Benz GLE is a mid-size SUV produced by the German automakers that competes in the market with the likes of BMW M5 and Audi Q7. It debuted back in 1997, but it was initially classified as the ML-Class by Mercedes-Benz. After several successful years it is still going strong after two decades.
Now Mercedes-Benz has finally revealed the fourth generation of the GLE-Class that will go on sale later next year because the model is designated for the year 2020. The fourth generation is a complete redesign, which means the vehicle is bigger, more aggressive, and overall, much better in every single way than the outgoing third generation.
The new GLE-Class has been given a complete redesign, which makes it look like a different vehicle from all angles. It is longer and wider than the outgoing model, which has allowed the designers to sneak in an optional third row of seats. The exterior design of the SUV displays a new DNA of Mercedes-Benz with distinctive headlights, grills, and tail lights.
The interior of the vehicle has also been refreshed. You can definitely notice the huge side-by-side screens that Mercedes-Benz is trying to make the standard after its success with the S-Class. The center console has been upgraded, and the air vents also have a new design that is quite sleek.
Just like the previous models, the available engine options will be inline-4, inline-6, and V8. All of these engines will be paired with brand new 9G-tronic 9-Speed transmission by Mercedes-Benz.
The GL350 model is expected to be featured with 2.0 L inline-4 engine, while the GL450 will have the new inline-6 engine, which produces 362 HP. The AMG models as announced by the company are GLE53 with a supercharged inline-6 engine and the GLE63 that features a powerful twin-turbo charged 4.0 L V8.
The new GLE features a brand new air suspension system that ensures a comfortable ride even on the bumpiest of the roads. The interior is lined up with plush leather and plywood so that everything on the inside gives a premium feeling. The standard Burmester sound system provides a soothing sound to your ears, as you get completely cut off from the outside world.
The brand new MBUX system now supports voice commands and gesture control as well. Mercedes-Benz is also working on a brilliant navigation system that is going to revolutionize how we use maps in our vehicles. Therefore, you can expect that system to be introduced in the new GLE as well.
Mercedes-Benz GLE-Class has so far announced only two AMG variants of the vehicle, which are GLE53 and the GLE63. There is also a GL350 4MATIC and a GL450 4MATIC. According to reports by many automotive news sources, Mercedes-Benz are currently developing a 2020 model for the GLE Coupe as well, and it might also be announced soon.
