Collectible Mercedes-Benz Sold for $9.9 Million
Last month a rare German luxury car set a new record for the highest Arizona car-auction price. The 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K Special Roadster was sold for $9.9 million; originally the car was projected to sell between $10 million and $13 million. When the Special Roadster was first brought into the United States, by Reginald SinClaire of Colorado, the manual transmission vehicle was believed to have been driven less than 11,000 miles in the past 80 years. The 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K is a very rare vehicle; its color makes it additionally unique – the red, two-seater Mercedes-Benz was originally priced at $12,000.
