EQ Silver Arrow World Premiered at Monterey Car Week
Mercedes-Benz gave us an exciting glimpse into the future last month at the world-famous Monterey Car Week. As hundreds of car enthusiasts gathered for the summer event in the beautiful Monterey Peninsula, Mercedes-Benz stole the spotlight with the one-seater EQ Silver Arrow. The prototype honors the record-breaking W 125 car from 1937. The paintwork features a beautiful silver color to honor the fact that the W 125, for weight reasons, did not have a white paint layer.
Gorden Wagener, Chief Design Officer at Daimler AG, said: “With their streamlined shape, the historic Silver Arrows secured Mercedes-Benz’s place as a pioneer when it came to speed. The EQ Silver Arrow show car draws on that legacy. Intended for acceleration and driving pleasure, it embodies progressive luxury and provides an insight into the future of our design. The show car drives the design idiom of our new EQ product and technology brand to the top.”
Its All in the Details
With a clear, seamless design, the EQ Silver Arrow sits at a 5.3 meter-long. The body sculpture is made of carbon fiber and several layers of silver paint – making it look like liquid metal. The overall design philosophy comes through in every angle of this car. The 168 spoke wheels are made up of lightweight aluminum and are dipped in rose gold color, a common feature on EQ.
On the inside, the EQ Silver Arrow matches the impressive exterior. Defining futuristic luxury, the interior of this prototype is deemed breathtaking. Using traditional, high-quality materials, including a brown-leather interior paired with a brushed aluminum and walnut wood pinstripes on the floor, this vehicle leaves nothing to chance. On the seat and backrest, Mercedes-Benz stitched stars into the brown leather, with the help of a laser engraver.
Mercedes-Benz spares nothing when it comes to technology, luxury, and design; which is why it’s no surprise that the manufacturer is recognized around the world for its beautiful designs, class-leading technology and breaking edge concepts.
