Mercedes-Benz recently displayed their new Urban eTruck and Future Bus concept cars at the IAA Commercial Vehicles show in Germany. These vehicles showed how Mercedes-Benz plans to use semi-autonomous technology in their future cars. Both concept cars have a lot of high tech equipment that is an exciting development for Mercedes-Benz.

The Mercedes-Benz Urban eTruck concept vehicle has a 212-kWh battery pack that powers the electric motors in the vehicle for 124 miles on one charge. The truck has the perfect range for city driving. Mercedes-Benz plans to market this vehicle as an urban delivery vehicle that will be part of a large fleet. The concept car has a FleetBoard telematics system This system tracks each charge as well as the routes of the day. This ensures an eTruck won’t go on a delivery without enough power to get back to its point of origin.

Mercedes-Benz also debuted their Future Bus with CityPilot. it has a six-cylinder diesel engine and lots of technology. CityPilot has semi-autonomous technology assists. Mercedes-Benz says this new system can detect things in the road and apply the brakes if it is necessary. It can also briefly drive the vehicle if it is needed. The Future Bus can communicate with the traffic lights that will adjust the speed of the vehicle to prevent idling.

These new concept vehicles are an exciting look into Mercedes-Benz’s future. If you are interested in purchasing a new Mercedes-Benz, visit us at Mercedes-Benz Brampton. For more information about the vehicles that are currently in our inventory, visit our website.
