Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is the Best Compact Luxury SUV
Nowadays, the world is going crazy over SUVs and no one knows the actual reason why. Anyways, this craze of Sports Utility Vehicles has alerted all the car manufacturers of the world and they are focusing on producing these big bulky vehicles to fulfill the market demands. Mercedes-Benz also has a wide range of SUVs in its production line, which is available in all shapes and sizes.
The market demand is for all types of SUVs, from top-of-the-line full size vehicles to even the smallest crossover SUV. So, when you look at the small compact SUVs then there is hardly any competitor that can stand next to the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class SUV.
The Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class is a recently created line of compact SUVs to meet the rising demand for compact SUVs in the market. It was specifically created to compete against BMW X3 and Audi Q5, which it successfully has ever since its launch in 2015.
This compact SUV follows the same order of Mercedes-Benz as their sedans. The SUV line of Mercedes-Benz is labeled as GL Class, which starts from their smallest offering GLA (SUV equivalent of A-Class), GLC (C-Class), GLE (E-Class) and GLS (S-Class). So as we can see that the GLC-Class is SUV equivalent of the C-Class sedan and unsurprisingly it is very similar to the C-Class sedan as well.
The GLC-Class comes in different variants that have gasoline and diesel-powered engines (depending on the model you choose). The standard model GLC300 4MATIC features a 2.0 L Turbo-charged inline-4 engine which produces 241 HP @5,500 RPM. All the models of GLC-Class features either rear wheel drive or four-wheel drive (4MATIC).
Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class has many variants that are limited to certain regions of the world. For example, the GLC-Class Coupe is only available in the UK and Europe. But the only other variant (apart from the AMG version) that is available in Canada is the GLC350e 4MATIC. It is a hybrid SUV which powers the vehicle using a turbo-charged 2.0 L inline-4 combined with an 85kW electric motor. Together, this system produces 315 HP @5,500 RPM which is significantly more than the standard model.
As every other vehicle that Mercedes-Benz produces, the GLC-Class also comes in an AMG version. The two AMG variants are GLC43 and GLC63 S. The GLC43 features a V6 gasoline engine which produces 362HP. The GLC63 S features a massive 4.0 L V8 which produces a whopping 469 HP, enough to propel this heavy SUV from 0-60 mph in just 3.8 seconds. This is sports car-like acceleration in a SUV.
