Mercedes-Benz Invests $1.3 Billion into Alabama Plant for SUV Expansion

The Mercedes-Benz assembly plant in Alabama will be undergoing a major expansion in the near future. The company has recently announced that it will investing $1.3 billion, which will open up room for 300 additional employees. This will mark the largest investment Mercedes-Benz has put forth for this particular plant. The major reason for this investment is to support the introduction of all-new SUVs. The plant will receive a new body shop and expand the existing SUV assembly line. The facility will also receive logistical and information technology improvements to increase the efficiency of the plant. Mercedes-Benz Brampton plans of continuously selling many vehicles and believes that Mercedes-Benz will continue success into the future, so this expansion will definitely help in keeping up with the demand. Construction of the facility upgrades are expected to conclude in June 2017.
