Mercedes-Benz S560e: The S-Class Comfort in Eco-Friendly Way
The Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the epitome of luxury when it comes to full-size sedans. It has been the leader in its category for several decades now, and it continues to carry the flag of Mercedes-Benz to this day.
However, times are now changing as the automotive world is taking a swift dive towards eco-friendly and fuel economic vehicles. Mercedes-Benz has also thought this through, and it has already introduced a lineup of hybrid vehicles and an all-electric lineup is on the way. The current hybrid lineup also includes the mighty S-Class, which is certainly a class apart from every other vehicle in the lineup.
Mercedes-Benz recently face-lifted the current generation of the S-Class, which is in its fifth year of production. This new model saw some serious changes in all the variants of the S-Class. This facelift also stretched its way into the hybrid lineup of the S-Class. One of the major changes was the introduction of the new S560e, which replaced the S550e plug-in hybrid sedan.
The new S560e is better in every single way than the outgoing model. It is more powerful, has a longer range, and it looks better because of the recent style upgrade by Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes-Benz S560e features the same 3.0 L V6 engine that puts out 362 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque. The engine might be the same as last year, but it certainly produces 33 HP more than it did in the S550e. It also has 15 lb-ft of more torque.
The S560e also features the brand new 9-Speed transmission by Mercedes-Benz instead of the old 7-Speed. The transmission is paired with the electric motors that fills up the gaps during the gear changes and also adds to the total power tally of the car. The electric motor in the S560e produces 121 HP. Combined with the mechanical power output, the grand total of the vehicle is around 483 HP, which makes it more powerful than the V8 S560.
The new S560e has the same sized batteries as the old S550e. However, these batteries can now pack the capacity of 13.5 kWh, which is almost 5 kWh more than the outgoing model. This extra capacity also increases the all electric range to 31 miles (50 kilometers). This is 11 miles more than the outgoing model.
Should You Buy the S560e over the S560?
The answer to the question above is yes. The Mercedes-Benz S560e offers everything that an S-Class has to offer. It offers the same comfort and convenience through its features as the normal S560, such as state of the art interior, MBUX infotainment system, and stunning exterior. It can simply be termed as an eco-friendly S-Class.
