MAGIC BODY CONTROL® What Is It and How Does it Work?

Mercedes-Benz is known for its game-changing technology that has been revolutionizing the automotive world for more than a century now. This is the reason why Mercedes-Benz is always way ahead of every car company in the world.

The S-Class is the flagship car of the German automakers. This means that this is the epitome of everything the company works towards. Every feature in the S-Class is top-of-the-line, and that’s why we are amazed every time a new S-Class model rolls out each year.

When Mercedes-Benz launched the current sixth generation of S-Class back in 2014, it blew every other luxury sedan out of the water. The car incorporated revolutionary technology in its making. However, one feature stood out and caught everyone’s attention, and that feature was the MAGIC BODY CONTROL®.

What Is It?

MAGIC BODY CONTROL® is a special feature by Mercedes-Benz that is exclusive to the S-Class. This system allows the car to pre-adjust the suspension by scanning the road ahead. In this, the car can glide over all the rough patches and potholes on the road. When you read or hear about this technology at first, it seems like it is straight out of a science fiction book. Then again, it is Mercedes-Benz S-Class that we are talking about, and this line of cars has always been ahead of its time.

How Does It Work?

Every Mercedes-Benz S-Class features two additional cameras that are located on the windscreen (just behind the rear view mirrors). These aren’t any ordinary cameras. They are installed there for one purpose only, and that is to scan the road ahead. These cameras can scan the road ahead for up to 15 meters and at a maximum speed of 80 mph (130 kmph). It’s crazy to even think how responsive the suspension system of the S-Class is.

The cameras then send the data to the control unit of the S-Class, which then individually prepares the suspension of all four wheels for the upcoming road. The latest version of MAGIC BODY CONTROL® can also detect an upcoming curve on the road, and it can prepare the suspension of one side of the car to counteract the lateral force.

One of the biggest advantages of individually controlled suspension is that even if the bumps are only on one side of the road, you won’t be able to feel them.

Is It Worth It?

If you are buying the best car that Mercedes-Benz makes, then you should definitely give its best features a go. MAGIC BODY CONTROL® is the most impressive feature in any luxury sedan in the world. It is one of the defining features of the S-Class. So, is it really worth it? The answer is yes, definitely!
