2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC350e: A Small Hybrid SUV to Cherish

2018 Mercedes-Benz GLC350e: A Small Hybrid SUV to Cherish

Mercedes-Benz has proved itself for more than a century by producing high-quality combustion engine powered vehicles. Despite this, when they decided to manufacture electro-mechanical hybrid vehicles, some people were skeptical. But Mercedes-Benz proved them wrong by making some of the best hybrid vehicles that are available in the market.

Today, there is a high demand for different sized SUVs. People are opting for SUVs due to their practicality and sportiness. People buy small SUVs because they are much more affordable and easier to take care of. So when it comes to small SUVs, only few vehicles can match the prestige of the Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class. And what better car to get than a small plug-in hybrid SUV, such as the GLC350e by Mercedes-Benz.

GLC350e

The GLC350e model of the GLC-Class is based on the exact same platform as the standard car. In fact, from the outside, you can hardly tell any difference between the gasoline-powered GLC-Class and a hybrid one. The hybrid variant GLC350e features a smaller 2.0 L engine turbo-charged inline-4 gasoline engine along with an 85 kW electric motor.

Performance and Range

The best part of driving a hybrid vehicle is when you are driving in the pure electric mode. The 8.7 kWh lithium-Ion battery pack in the GLC350e gives you an impressive range of up to 20 miles before draining out completely.

The powerful 85 kW electric motor in GLC350e yields 114 HP and an impressive 251 lb-ft of torque. However, it is recommended to use the pure electric mode in the city and on the streets as the range can drop drastically on the highways.

Mercedes-Benz GLC350e gives you an option to choose from three different modes of driving. You can drive in full electric mode by choosing the EV mode.  You can also drive in the full gas mode, and you can choose the hybrid mode if you want to get the most of both the systems.

On the highways, you can choose either the full gas mode or the best mileage. And if you want to drive while keeping in mind the environment, you can drive in the hybrid mode. This mode contributes less to the smog in the atmosphere.

The gasoline engine in the GLC-350e is a 2.0 L turbo-charged inline-4.This produces 208 HP and 258 lb-ft of torque. In hybrid mode, you get the combined horsepower of about 315 and 413 lb-ft.

Comfort, Convenience and Price

The GLC350e has the exact same interior features as the standard GLC-Class, which is based on the C-Class sedan. This model has all the standard features, such as powered seat adjustment, three-zone climate control, satellite navigation, and ambient lighting. Of course, you can add more features by choosing from all the options that Mercedes-Benz offer for all of its models.

The GLC350e can be yours at a starting price of just $59,900.
