2019 Mercedes-Benz E450 4 MATIC Replaces the E400 from Last Year

2019 Mercedes-Benz E450 4 MATIC Replaces the E400 from Last Year

Mercedes-Benz E-Class is the second most prestigious sedan that the German automakers produce after the mighty S-Class. It is a midsize luxury sedan that competes directly with the likes of BMW 5-series and the Audi A6.

The 2019 model of the E-Class gets a slight refresh. However, a major in the next year’s model is the replacement of the E400. The E400 is the top range E-Class model that was a rear-wheel drive sedan. It will be replaced by the brand new E450 4MATIC, which, as suggested by the name, will be an all-wheel drive sedan. There will also be an E450 model for the next year that will be rear-wheel drive only.

Here is what we know so far regarding the upcoming Mercedes-Benz E450:

Design

The new E450 will feature the same design aesthetics as the previous E400. But there will be minor changes. Slight changes have been made to the grille and front bumper to change the look a bit. It is hard to call it a facelift, but that’s what the models in the current generation get.

The interior of the car also remains pretty much the same as the outgoing E400. Major changes have been made in the performance areas. The most noticeable one is the conversion of the car from a rear-wheel drive vehicle to an all-wheel drive.

Performance

The brand new E450 inherits the same twin turbocharged V6 engine from the outgoing E400. However, the engine has been tuned to produce 33 more horsepower and 15 more lb-ft of torque. The total power output calculates up to 362 HP and 369 lb-ft of torque. This puts the E450 slightly closer to E53 AMG, which produces 429 HP.

The new E450 also gets the 9G-TRONIC 9-speed gearbox by Mercedes-Benz, which is an excellent transmission. It distributes the power perfectly between the gears and gives you a perfectly smooth ride.

Comfort and Convenience

There isn’t anything new when it comes to comfort and convenience features of the car. However, the driver assisting features such as brake assist and PRESAFE® have been updated in the next year’s model, so you can definitely expect a slight improvement in that area.

You still get the option of a side-by-side screen on the dashboard, which you can upgrade to 12.3 inches as an option. A head up display option is also available for the new model and electronically adjustable seats are standard.

The E450 and E450 4MATIC will be available for sale in the upcoming fall season. The prices of the model aren’t announced yet by the manufacturers.
