How To Decode Your Check Engine Light

How To Decode Your Check Engine Light

One of the last things you want to see when driving your vehicle is the check engine light. It could mean anything, ranging from something minor to something catastrophic. It can be hard to tell what it’s trying to tell you but that’s what Mercedes-Benz Brampton is here for. Our Ontario Mercedes staff is going to help you crack the code and get you back onto the road.

What’s It Telling Me?

When the light comes on, it typically can be resolved out our dealership for around $75 but you might be able to figure it out yourself. You can buy inexpensive code readers that connect to the standard onboard diagnostics port and search the code’s meaning online.

Don’t confuse the “service required” light for the Check Engine light as they are two totally different things. The “service required” light indicates a routine service like an oil change. The Check Engine light comes in orange, yellow, or amber and if it is flashing then it is a serious problem.

Don’t Ignore It!

When you see your Check Engine light turn on, don’t ignore it! Bring it into our Mercedes CA dealership to have our service technicians check it out. We understand that some of you are worried about an expensive repair bill or are trying to squeeze out the last miles in the vehicle but it’s well worth it, especially if you have a state inspection coming up.

Around ten percent of drivers have their Check Engine light on and half of those ten percent have ignore the light for more than three months. Don’t be one of the ten percent and come find out why our trained technicians are the best in the business. Mercedes-Benz Brampton prides ourselves on being honest and upfront with customers to ensure a healthy relationship. We treat your car like one of our own so you’ll find yourself back on the road with a repaired vehicle in no time. Visit us today!
