Mercedes-Benz C-Class: The Mini S-Class

Mercedes-Benz C-Class: The Mini S-Class

While all the other manufacturers are discontinuing their sedan models in favor of the in-demand SUVs, Mercedes-Benz is still working hard to improve them with each new model. The sedan segment of Mercedes-Benz is led by the mighty S-Class. It is followed by the E-Class and then the C-Class. For quite a long time, the C-Class was considered to be the entry-level model due to the lack of features and lower price. However, with the introduction of several lower range models, such as the CLA-Class and the A-Class Sedan, the C-Class has certainly been promoted to the executive level.

History

The C-Class was officially launched back in 1993 as a successor for the Mercedes-Benz 190. The first generation C-Class was classified as W202 model, and it had two variants, a four-door sedan and a five-door wagon.

The second generation C-Class was launched in the year 2000, and it had similar design aesthetics as the S-Class at the time. This clearly showed the direction that Mercedes-Benz was heading in with their smaller sedan. A 2-door coupe variant was added to the lineup with this model.

The third generation C-Class was introduced in 2007, and it is the model that made the C-Class a serious car. It was also the first C-Class that would be modified by AMG, and we would be introduced to the insane C63 AMG.

The fourth and current generation is the most technologically advanced C-Class ever made. A cabriolet variant is also added to the lineup.

2019 C-Class Sedan

The latest model of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is for the year 2019. It is the fourth-generation model of the car and features the exact same design with slight modifications such as the headlights, grille and refreshed tail lamps.

It features a 2.0 L turbocharged inline-4 engine that produces 255 HP and 273 lb-ft of torque. This engine is combined with a brand 9G-TRONIC 9-speed transmission by Mercedes-Benz, which distributes the power brilliantly and ensures excellent performance on the road. If these power figures aren’t enough for you, then you can always go for the AMG variant of the C-Class, which is absolutely insane.

2019 C43, C63 and C63 S

The 2019 model of the Mercedes-AMG C-Class features two different variants, the C43 and the C63. The C43 features a 3.0 L twin turbocharged V6 engine that produces 385 HP. The C63, on the other hand, is an absolute rocket ship. It features a massive 4.0 L twin turbocharged V8 and it produces 469 HP and 479 lb-ft of torque. The C63 S features the same engine, but it has been tuned up to produce 503 HP and 516 lb-ft of torque.

Mercedes-Benz has no plans to discontinue their C-Class despite the worldwide decline in the sedan sales. They hope to introduce the next generation of the C-Class in the next couple of years.
