Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC®

Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC®

You’re environmentally conscious. You recycle. You try not to use more water than you have to. Does that mean you have to give up the power and torque that only a diesel engine can provide? Mercedes-Benz doesn’t think so. That’s why they included their Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC® diesel technology on models starting in 2006 that were built with diesel engines. Their Sprinter BlueTEC® vans are also equipped with this clean diesel technology. We know that a lot of our Brampton customers care about the environment and fuel economy, because they often ask us about BlueTEC®. So, let’s talk about what this amazing technology can do.

What Does Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC® Diesel Technology Do?

Among other things, the Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC® diesel system injects specially formulated fluid called AdBlue into the exhaust to convert Nitrogen Oxide emissions into harmless Nitrogen and Oxygen. The fuel injection component of the system is optimized to provide the best performance. That means you can expect better fuel economy while driving along the Caledon roads from your Sprinter BlueTEC® van than other vehicles in its class.

Benefits of the Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC® Diesel Technology

A Mercedes-Benz BlueTEC® diesel vehicle, like the Sprinter BlueTEC®-equipped diesel van, is the vehicle of choice for responsible diesel vehicle owners everywhere. Here are the benefits:

  • Cleaner emissions. BlueTEC® diesel engines are as clean burning as conventional gas engines.
  • Better fuel economy. They consume 20 to 40 percent less fuel than comparable vehicles with gasoline engines.

Which Mercedes-Benz Vehicles Can Be BlueTEC® Diesel?

Mercedes-Benz mostly focuses on manufacturing gas and hybrid vehicles for North America, nowadays, with the exception of the Sprinter BlueTEC®-equipped diesel vans. If you’re interested in a model from a previous year, check out our pre-owned vehicle specials. Here are makes and models that have had this technology in the past:

  • ML350 BlueTEC®
  • GL350 BlueTEC® (popular with Orangeville drivers)
  • R350 BlueTEC®
